Yerba Maté (Ilex paraguariensis) Supplement Exerts Beneficial, Tissue-Specific Effects on Mitochondrial Efficiency and Redox Status in Healthy Adult Mice

In this four-week study, Unimate prevented significant weight gain and produced tissue-specific changes in cellular metabolism. Skeletal muscle showed increased ATP production and greater energy-production efficiency, while fat tissue shifted toward greater energy expenditure. Unimate also increased liver glutathione and antioxidant potential, indicating improved protection against oxidative stress. In other words, Unimate helped muscle cells produce energy more efficiently while causing fat cells to use more energy, with more of that energy released as heat.
